When unclaimed individuals are laid to rest in Sarasota County, they often have no family or loved ones present. Lonely Passage SRQ is a community service project led by Harper Gratton to ensure that every person is honored and remembered.
Why It Matters
A Presence Of Dignity
Through simple acts of remembrance, such as reading names, sharing a few words, and being present at ash scatterings, we hope to provide dignity and compassion for those who would otherwise be alone.
Inspired by the original Lonely Passage movement founded in Lexington, Kentucky, and similar programs in Europe, Lonely Passage SRQ believes every life deserves to be acknowledged.
